About Legion of Fantasy and "Name Our Game Store"

Three nerds decided that they wanted a game store. They also realized they didn't care what it was called.

Thus began "Name Our Game Store" in 2017 - a contest where nerds and geeks from anywhere could submit their ideas for store names in exchange for prizes. This would be a year of intense convention-hopping up and down Northern California, from Monterey and Merced to Sacramento and Reno and everywhere in-between. In early 2018, the crew finally had a stack of names. Once they wittled it down to the top four, the voting round began, until one name pulled ahead as the clear winner - "Legion of Fantasy".

The con-hopping has calmed down, but next up is the brick-and-mortar surveying in Sacramento. Kisa, Katt, and Micheal will be looking into a physical location in late 2020, but until then, we're going to be bringing you content in the form of streams, reviews, and videos - not to mention product partnerships with local geeky artists. Stayed tuned!

Kisa Klein

Boardgames Manager

 @KisaKlein

Kisa began her geek career with a Naruto headband in middle school, of which there is photographic evidence. She never learned the error of her ways, and began a downward spiral that would eventually lead her into the tabletop scene at the tender age of 20, with White Wolf's Scion, as well as a homebrew system created by her local tabletop RPG club. It would be at this point that Kisa realized she was not quite as different from her sports-enthusiastic family members as she once believed; she just lacked the appropriate medium with which to express her competitiveness. She would proceed to min-max and aggro her way through tabletop game after tabletop game, and eventually realized that boardgames were her strongest suit. Where most RPGs and TCGs required a multitude of structured rules and boundaries that were cumbersome on her memory-hampered brain, boardgames enabled her creativity and intensity to shine so long as she stayed within a small rulebook. The rest is history - or would be, if people weren't afraid to play more boardgames with her.

Katt Hardin

Tabletop RPG Manager

 @AyliKatt [NSFW]

Katt has enjoyed getting into the minds and skin (eww) of fictional characters ever since she was a smol thing that thought theatre would be a nice and normal hobby to get into. She discovered play-by-post roleplaying in junior high, and then graduated to pen-and-paper in high school when some of the theatre techs introduced her to Vampire: the Masquerade. It turns out that fantasy worlds allow her to express her sadomasochistic tendencies to their full extent, without fear of repercussion. Katt has been checked out by mental health professionals that confirmed that she is not, in fact, a complete psychopath.

Michael Perry

Trading Card Games Manager

 @TankOfJank

Perry has always had a fascination with card games. Started with Pokemon back in grade school. After a few years and some tired and failed other games, he fell in love with Magic. Perry started playing Magic when Torment was the new set on the block and has been hooked ever since. These days you can find him slinging spells in Legacy or Modern and when not doing that you can find him in a judge shirt making sure events are running smoothly for everyone. Outside of Magic, he loves to take pictures of his pets and blast them all over the internet.
